Founder & CEO Trevor Gomes to be honored with 'British Citizen Award' at the Palace of Westminster

Trevor Gomes ( Founder & CEO) to be recognised at the Palace of Westminster with the prestigious British Citizen Award (BCA) in recognition of his extraordinary endeavors. The British Citizen Award in partnership with One Stop, is now in its eighth year and recognises exceptional individuals who positively impact their communities throughout the country.

The January 2022 Presentation has been postponed due to current Government Guidelines, but Trevor will be honoured on 24th March 2022 with The British Citizen Award for Services to Education and will receive the coveted BCA Medal of Honour and invited to use the post-nominals BCAe as a legacy of their achievement. This latest achievement adds to Trevor's recognition from Her Majesty the Queen and being awarded with a 'Points of Light' Award by UK PM Borish Johnson in 2021.

At the age of just 24 years old Trevor is dedicated to supporting young people, not only from his own community but young people from disadvantaged backgrounds from all over the UK. Trevor has engaged, motivated and upskilled thousands of young people during a time when their education and ability to engage with employers had been massively impacted.

Trevor researched, deigned and developed the ELEVATE programme, a self-improvement programme designed to give young people a better opportunity of success in their career. The programme features topics relevant to young people such as personal branding, growth-mindset & resilience, wellbeing, networking skills, presentation skills, interview techniques and career paths. Trevor has engaged well-known public figures as guest speakers and 100 volunteers to help support him give 1-1 mentoring. Trevor has received no funding for the project but has continued delivering this alongside his own postgraduate studies, full-time job and start-up business.

Over 10,000 young people have benefitted from ELEVATE, as well as thousands online through the programme’s social media accounts. Trevor has helped young people stay focused on their studies as well as develop new skills during a difficult and scary time in the world of finding a career during the pandemic.

“This year’s medalists have reminded us of how many amazing people are supporting our communities, especially during such a challenging time. At One Stop we serve many communities across the country, and we know how important voluntary work is to support those in need. We're proud to be partnering with the BCA again and to play a small part in helping each medallist to be recognised. Our congratulations go to all honourees”, said Jonny McQuarrie, from BCA partner One Stop.

The Medal presentation will be hosted by TV presenter Tim Vincent, and attended by BCA Patron Dame Mary Perkins, Founder of Specsavers, and Baroness Caroline Cox. The British Citizen Award (BCA) was established in 2015 to recognise exceptional individuals who work tirelessly and selflessly to make a positive impact on their communities and society. The BCA recognises true community heroes who would otherwise likely be overlooked. Dubbed ‘The People’s Honours’, many recipients have subsequently been selected to receive a Queen’s Honour after their endeavours have been recognised with a BCA.
